Why vegetable tanning
Vegetable-tanned leather, hand-cut
Vegetable tanning uses tree-bark tannins instead of chromium salts. It takes weeks instead of hours — and produces leather that is firm, biodegradable, and famous for one thing above all: patina. Sun, hands and time darken it into a finish no factory can apply.
The saddle stitch
Every bag and wallet is sewn with two needles on one waxed thread, crossing inside each hole. If a saddle stitch ever breaks, the seam holds — unlike machine lockstitch, which unravels. It is slower. It is also why your grandchildren might argue over the wallet.
Owning it well
- Condition with a neutral balm every few months
- Caught in rain? Blot, stuff, and dry slowly — never on a heater
- Scratches polish out with a fingertip's warmth
